New web portal features major projects, and key community information to link potential investors with opportunities in northeast B.C.
Northeast British Columbia – A new regional investment attraction website, Invest Northeast BC, reveals the high amount of economic activity taking place in B.C.’s energy-rich northeast region.

Northern Development Initiative Trust has partnered with communities throughout northeast B.C. to develop an online portal designed to attract new investment to one of the province’s fastest growing regions. The portal, uniquely branded around the region’s energy exploration and development opportunities, is the first of its kind in the northeast B.C. region.
Invest Northeast BC, www.investnortheastbc.ca, features an interactive map identifying key major projects and investment opportunities throughout the region, including specific details about each project. In addition, the website includes comprehensive profiles of regional communities and relevant information to showcase northeast B.C. as a preferred place to invest.
“The investment portal is important because it’s going to be the doorway to northeast British Columbia for people looking to locate their businesses here, whether it’s industry or retail businesses or brand new businesses,” said Fort St. John Mayor Lori Ackerman. “When people are looking to invest they want to make sure there’s a good return on their investment, and the northeast B.C. investment portal is going to provide that information at the touch of a finger.”
Municipal economic development offices throughout the region played a critical role in the development of Invest Northeast BC, developing content for community profiles and working with business and industry partners to develop profiles of key investments.
Invest Northeast BC is the third investment portal of its kind developed to showcase the incredible amount of economic activity underway across Northern BC; Invest Northwest BC was launched last fall, while Invest North Central BC was launched in October. Invest Northeast BC is a partnership between the following communities: the City of Fort St. John, the District of Chetwynd, the City of Dawson Creek, the Village of Pouce Coupe, the District of Taylor, the District of Hudson’s Hope, the District of Tumbler Ridge, the Peace River Regional District, the Northern Rockies Regional Municipality and the Northern Development Initiative Trust.
