Northern Development Board Appoints New Chair and Approves $3 Million in New Investments

Northern Development Initiative Trust announced today the approval of eighteen community and industry investments totalling over $3.0 million in grant and loan funding toward new projects with a total value exceeding $9.4 million. A significant number of investments have been committed to in communities and rural regions throughout central and northern British Columbia, including job creation incentives approved-in-principle to two companies that are committed to creating 77 new manufacturing positions. Northern British Columbia will soon celebrate five years of investments by the Northern Development Initiative Trust to help the regions’ communities reach their economic potential. In five short years, forty communities, nine regional districts and thirty-eight First Nations communities across 70% of BC have collectively seen 451 projects successfully funded by Northern Development. PRINCE GEORGE, BC – Grade twelve students from central and northern British Columbia now have access to a $225,000 Young Innovator Scholarship Fund based on their winning ideas, innovation and entrepreneurship. The scholarship fund is a partnership between Northern Development Initiative Trust (Northern Development) and the BC Innovation Council (BCIC).
