Vanderhoof– Northern Development Initiative Trust has approved $5,000 to assist the District of Vanderhoof to conduct a housing needs and demand study. The proposed study will help the community prepare to meet the demand for adequate and affordable housing in order to satisfy the growing population in Vanderhoof. The study will fund a demographic and economic profile, build an inventory of current housing needs and supplies and provide likely housing scenarios. This grant was approved through Northern Development’s Capital Investment Analysis program.
Wells– Northern Development Initiative Trust has approved $6,443 for a marketing campaign to highlight the Island Mountain Arts Society (IMA) and their Summer School of the Arts program. Based out of Wells, the IMA hopes to expand their social media marketing, create print media marketing such as brochures, calendar and poster marketing, as well as developing press and news releases. This grant was approved through Northern Development’s Marketing Initiatives program
Regional District of Bulkley-Nechako–Northern Development Initiative Trust has approved $30,000 to help the Morice Mountain Nordic Ski Club upgrade their facilities near Houston. Proposed upgrades include culvert installation, bridge replacements, and energy efficient upgrades to the day lodge. This grant was approved through Northern Development’s Community Halls and Recreation Facilities Program.
Smithers–Northern Development Initiative Trust has approved $14,298 in funding for the Northern Saddle Club in Smithers. The funding will help to provide a safe and reliable round pen training and riding facility for its members throughout the year. The project includes site preparation and the construction of a cement base as wells as the assembly of an outdoor round pen. This grant was approved through Northern Development’s Community Halls and Recreation Facilities Program.
