Positive Economic Impacts in Vanderhoof
In the 2010 season, the Nechako Valley Secondary School track and field team took gold in zones for senior track and field. With the new stadium utilized, the squad saw an increase of over 30% more participation from the students from the previous year. With a sports centre to be proud of, the citizens of Vanderhoof are getting involved in their community and supporting their local sports teams, all while increasing their own physical fitness at this new recreational facility.
The District of Vanderhoof along with the various sporting groups, has plans to bid on and host regional and provincial events for a variety of sports including soccer, football, rugby, track and field, and lacrosse. Drawing in competitors and their families from all around the province will have a positive impact on local businesses and hotels.
