In 2009, Dawson Creek Golf & Country Club received a $30,000 grant from Northern Development through the Community Halls and Recreation Facilities program towards this $112,287 project. This has been a funding partnership of Dawson Creek Golf & Country Club, Northern Development, Dawson Creek Athletic Association, and R. Moch Electric
2012 – The Dawson Creek Golf and Country Club went through a major renovation and expansion in 2010. The upstairs was completely renovated and updated. The project features new paint and panelling, an upgraded fully stocked kitchen, a new bar, a brand new barbeque, ATM machine, portable dance floor, updated office space, and a new deck that is covered for wind.
All of the lighting throughout the facility now energy efficient, and the single pane windows in the pro shop were replaced with new, sealed units. In addition, all of the perimeter windows were fit with energy efficient blinds.
The renovations were made possible with funding from the Dawson Creek Athletic Association, R. Moch Electric, and Northern Development Initiative Trust.
"The improvements to the clubhouse have resulted in a much more efficient kitchen which has led to better service for our members and the general public."
Jim Wickstrom, Head Pro and Club Manager, Dawson Creek Golf and Country ClubBy renovating the facilities, the Dawson Creek Golf and Country Club was able to provide an appealing venue to current members and was also successful in attracting new members. They have also seen an increase in the number of meetings and events that are held at the clubhouse. With the improvements to the kitchen, it has been possible to cater to outside events which has resulted in additional revenue generation. In addition to the increase in revenues, significant cost savings have come from increasing the energy efficiency of the building.
As a non profit organization, all cost savings and increased revenues are invested back into the club. The increased revenues resulting from these renovations will be used to upgrade the golf course and restaurant to more current technology which will continue to improve the facility.
