In 2018, EDI Environmental Dynamics Inc. received a $13,968 grant from Northern Development through the Competitiveness Consulting Rebate program towards this $27,935 project. This has been a funding partnership of Northern Development
Since 1994, EDI Environmental Dynamics Inc. (EDI) has been offering high-quality environmental services to organizations throughout western and northern Canada. In their 24th year of business, they decided to elevate their digital presence as a way to increase their client base and raise top of mind awareness. To help achieve this, they successfully applied for a $13,968 rebate through the Trust’s Competitiveness Consulting Rebate program in 2018.
After EDI’s project was approved by Northern Development, they hired a local consultant to bring their business to the next level by creating a new website, developing and implementing a comprehensive marketing strategy and training employees to increase their internal capacity. Through all of this, EDI began to increase their digital presence to better engage, serve and grow their client base.
“We are very appreciative of the NDIT funding,” said Bob Redden, CEO of EDI. “EDI had been hoping to redesign our website from it, advance our marketing efforts, using the website as a hub. The NDIT funding helped initiate the project which was been a huge success.”
All the tools developed by the consultant continue to be used by EDI to further develop their business and the skills of their employees. The new website provides an enhanced and easily navigated experience for potential and returning clients who are learning more about EDI’s services and successes. The detailed marketing strategy provides a framework for staff to create and implement their own organic or paid promotions, raising awareness about their services and celebrating unique projects.
Investing in training for employees means that EDI can manage the new website themselves, saving money and time compared to hiring an external developer to do the work. Through the project, three employees have been trained to update the website and four are trained on social media content and the execution of organic campaigns on Facebook and LinkedIn.
Through Northern Development’s Competitiveness Consulting Rebate, businesses such as EDI can receive up to a 50 per cent rebate, up to a maximum of $30,000, on external professional consulting services. Businesses can undertake projects that increase productivity, revenues, profitability or jobs and receive their rebate from the Trust once the project has been completed. These projects lead to increased competitiveness in the global market, business growth or the adoption of reliable business practices.
