Northern Development is now accepting applications for projects that are slated to begin in 2018. The Trust offers a wide range of funding programs and one of the keys to success is to apply early. Understanding the application requirements of every funding agency can be challenging. By applying early, it provides the opportunity for our staff to work directly with you to ensure your application has the best chance of success.
Timelines have changed to respond to community demand
We’re so proud to be a part of the increasing number of community-led projects happening all over northern B.C. every year. In order to help you get a head start on your funding applications for those projects taking place in 2018, we’ve adjusted our application timelines to better meet your needs.
Our staff is dedicated to working with you to ensure the best possible outcome for every application throughout our office and are looking forward to hearing about your initiatives.
First Intake for 2018 Funds
September 5 – October 31, 2017
This intake period applies to the following Northern Development funding programs:
• Business Facade Improvement
• Capital Investment Analysis
• Community Foundation Matching Grants
• Community Halls and Recreation Facilities
• Economic Diversification Infrastructure
• Marketing Initiatives
Internship Program Intake Period
September 5 – November 30, 2017
This intake period applies to the following Northern Development funding programs:
• Local Government Internship
• Economic Development Internship
• First Nations Local Government Internship
Grant Writing & Economic Development Capacity Building Intake Period
September 5 – January 31, 2018
This intake period applies to the following Northern Development funding programs:
• Economic Development Capacity Building
• Grant Writing Support
Continuous Intake
The following funding programs accept applications on a continuous basis:
• Competitiveness Consulting Rebate
• Fabulous Festivals and Events
• Forest Innovation Fund
• Governance Essentials Scholarships
Program enhancements
Northern Development has enhanced two of our programs to better meet community needs:
• Business Facade Improvement Program: now allows accessibility improvements as part of a facade improvement project.
• Marketing Initiatives Program: will now fund up to 50% of a project’s total budget (up from 29%).
Northern Development Initiative Trust combines funding with smart thinking to help Northern British Columbia thrive. The Trust was created for the north and is led by the north. Since 2005, Northern Development has found more than 2,700 ways to say “yes” to economic diversification in our region, attracting more than $1.3 billion in new investment to the region.
