In 2009, Williams Lake Golf & Tennis Club received a $10,000 grant from Northern Development through the Community Halls and Recreation Facilities program towards this $30,000 project. This has been a funding partnership of Williams Lake Golf and Tennis Club, Northern Development, and Williams Lake Golf & Tennis Club
2012-The Williams Lake Golf and Tennis Club clubhouse recently went through a substantial makeover. With funding support from Northern Development, the Club was able to replace old plumbing in the building, upgrade to energy efficient light fixtures, make repairs to the sun deck, replace some of the kitchen appliances, and repaint the clubhouse.
Located in the beautiful Chilcotin hills, two kilometers west of the city centre on Highway 20, the Williams Lake Golf and Tennis Club is a popular retreat for locals and travellers alike. By making the improvements to the facilities, the club’s reputation has continued to grow, and more golfers continue to visit the course and the city.
"Our investment in improvements to the Williams Lake Golf and Tennis Club clubhouse could not have happened without the support of Northern Development. Timing was impeccable - our boiler and our hot water tanks literally collapsed as we removed them from the building. Our energy cost savings has been at least 10% since the installation. That has allowed us to serve our customers in a warmer environment at less cost. The community has gained a great asset with this investment."
Wayne Reeves, President, Williams Lake Golf and Tennis ClubThe new and improved golf course club facility has been successful in increasing their attendance numbers and visitor spending. Cost savings have also been significant following the improvements to the plumbing and the move to energy efficient lighting. In addition to the jobs that were created during the renovation, the increase in out of town visitors has had an impact on the City of Williams Lake's hospitality industry, increasing traffic and revenues for hotels, restaurants, and local shops.
